What's for Dinner?

Hi Everyone!

Hope you are having a great Sunday.  We sure are at my house.  I have the laundry done, watched a couple of made for TV movies (I am such a cry baby for those sappy Sunday afternoon movies...haha) and made a HUGE pot of soup which is simmering away on the stove.  I hope it tastes as good as it smells!!  It was supposed to be Hamburger Soup and sort of still is but I think it's more appropriately called "Everything But The Kitchen Sink Soup".  When I told Mike I was renaming it I mistakingly called it Everything "Under" The Kitchen Sink Soup but that doesn't sound as appetizing does it?  LOL.   Oh, I also have a batch of homemade buns rising.  YUM-O!

Anywho....I thought I'd just share a couple of really simple cards I made a while ago but never got around to posting yet (I am such a bad blogger).  I haven't made it to my craft room this weekend yet but I hope to find an hour or two down there tonight.  It might take that long just to clear a space to work at though.

Oh and guess who decorated the Christmas tree??  Mike did.  heehee.  It looks great and I am so happy he did!!!  I just wasn't feeling it and didn't know when I'd get around to it. 

 

Happy Birthday Shelby~~&~~Loonie Stampers #70

Hey Everyone.  Hope you are having a great week.

I want to send out a great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my amazing niece Shelby.  She is 12 today!  I cannot believe it~~~12 yrs old already.  I keep telling her to stop growing up so fast.  Not that I am worried it makes me older too....he he...no not that.  Have a wonderful day Shelby.....I wish I was there to give you a big birthday hug!  But I can't wait to see you at Christmas time!

In honour of Shelby's day I made a birthday card as my Loonie Stampers card.  Regan chose these HOT colours and can I tell you.......I love them!  LUV!!!

Can you believe that ALL of the patterned paper on this card is from my scrap folder????  Oh yeah.  Same with the brown strip and kraft piece with the sentiment on it - straight out of my little paper garbage can!  I was inspired by Jessica Witty's scrap card and knew I wanted to take on her 10-Minute-Scrap-Pile-Challenge.  I didn't time myself to see how long it did take to make but WOW do I ever love that I actually used old product and it worked!  Thanks so much for the inspiration Jessica....I hope you are going to continue with the challenges??  See my fingers crossed?

Gift Tags

The new challenge for this week over on CARDS blog was to make Holiday gift tags and this is one I came up with.  I heat embossed the little black tree image on to shiny white paper and stitched around it.  Thru on a great bow and voila!  I quite like how it turned out with the bold black, white and red even if it doesn't scream Christmas. 

I need to fess up and tell you that I made the tag below first because I didn't read the challenge very well and didn't catch on that it was meant to be HOLIDAY tags.   However I do love this tag.  It's so fun and cheery.  The blue fabric is from IKEA.  Have you ever shopped in their fabric section?  They have such incredible patterns and very reasonably priced. Here's a link for you....hope it works. 

My tag consists of the fabric layer, chipboard and then a cream card stock backing.  I was shocked when my sewing machine actually went through all the layers. And so happy!  But I don't recommend you trying it as I don't want you breaking your machine!  I didn't breathe the whole time I stitched.

Embellish w/ Leaves Acorns and Pinecones

I had SO much fun with this challenge.  Of course I had to borrow stamp sets from my wonderful, generous, amazing friends~~~ Wendy and Rho ~~~ because I had exactly ZIP NADA NOTHING for stamps that included pine-cones and acorns.  Thanks girls for lending me the stamps.  I *might* return them.  I will think about it.  

Here's my 2 cards that I created to share with you.  ~~~Never mind that my stamped sentiment is crooked.~~~  And it was even a clear stamp!!!  Look away people.  ;)

For this one below I was totally in love with with greenery and pine-cones in Ashley's colour map and loved that I could (sort of) recreate it.  Ashley makes THE BEST colour maps out there.  Don't you agree?  You are going to love the next challenge too.  Stay tuned.

Oh....I remembered that I had bought these chipboard-y Martha Stewart acorns last year on clearance and wanted to finally do something with them.  This challenge was the perfect opportunity.  They open up and you can put schtuff in them.  Here's the before. 

Here's the after!  Love it.  It's glitterfied!  In fact EVERYTHING in my craft room appears to be glitterfied at the moment.  Hehee.  Thanks for visiting today everyone.   See you tomorrow with my Loonie Stampers challenge card.  It's a good one!

 
  

Hello

Hi Everyone....I hope you had a great weekend.  I am thrilled to say I have most of my Christmas shopping done!  Yay!  How about your Christmas tree?  Did you get it set up?  I wasn't going to put a tree up but we ended up setting up just the top 2 pieces of the 3 piece seven foot tree. That means we have a cute little 5' tree.  Not that it's decorated or anything but it makes me feel like I did something....haha.   Adding lights and decorating will have to wait until Thursday.  It's my short week.  Another....Yay!

Sorry I don't have much to share with you.  I have been creating a few things for some pub calls but I can't share until they are rejects....which is likely too so maybe one day.  In the meantime I do have a couple cards I can share.

This first one is a precious girlie CASE of my baby boy card.  Cuteness.

This next one is a close up of a card I showed briefly the other day.  I love the layout and seem to keep creating this style.  Of course the card can be made with any sentiment you wish.  The flowers are heat embossed and some of the black powder stayed where it shouldn't have....but I like it anyway.  It's rustic.  Sure....lets go with that...rustic.  haha.

  

 
 

Loonie Stampers Challenge 69

Who says you can't use black on a Christmas card?  Sure these colors are pretty bold but I think they look great together.  Of course I used a lot of my FAV neutral....PTI Vintage Cream so the black and red really aren't too overpowering.

I picked up a new Cricut cartridge the other day (Joy of Christmas I think it's called???) which this ornament "frame" is from.  Did you get that it was a Christmas ornament?  I wasn't sure if the black polka dot dp worked or not.  Or does it look like one of those round bombs waiting to be lit?  lol.

Ok...now let's go check out the other girls creations!

That amazing ribbon is from Perfectly Pretty which you can find right here.  It also comes in a really great brown and ivory checked pattern.

Elzybells Challenge Time

Something Fun to Share

 

My very good friend Carly has opened up the most darling Etsy store and I am so proud that she asked me to be on her Design Team.  I am also super excited that Sarah Martina will be part of this team with me.  Sarah is also such a good friend to me and I am happy that we can share another adventure together.  How fun is that?!!

Dee is the Queen of "white space".  I LOVED LOVED LOVED this card she made and this is my attempt at her style.  Never mind that my lines are bad and my tree is crooked.....go look at Dee's card and forget about mine.

Loonie Stampers Challenge #68

Yay, it's Friday!  I don't live in the US but I wish I was there doing some shopping.  I would LOVE to hear about some of the deals you got today.  Go on...make me jealous.

There's not been alot going on around here but we are considering renovating our kitchen and Mike and I went to our first cabinet manufacturer today to start a quote process.  I am super excited!  If we do renovate I am thinking about showing the progress on my blog.  Mind you we did our basement ~~~my craft room~~ last year and I still haven't shared those pics with you yet have I?

Have a GREAT weekend everyone.  I best be getting motivated to do some Christmas preparation.  My cards are pretty much prepped and I just have to put them together and get them signed and mailed.   Then there's the tree.  I haven't put up a tree probably in the last 2 or 3 years.  Does anyone else despise putting the lights on?  It's such a lot of work. 

Jewels picked out colours for today.  They are pretty great don't ya think?  I went with a Christmas theme.  I think it works.  Be sure to check out the Loonies and see what they made.
